Lina Bo Bardi Exhibit
Kindled by my early interest in the role of gender in architecture that had first manifested in a 1993 housing competition in Gifu, Japan A Woman’s Dream that garnered an honorable mention; I became fascinated by the seminal work of Italian born Brazilian architect Lina Bo Bardi. The multi-disciplinary way in which she developed her projects and the unmistakable “anthropological” vision that she brought to her spatial investigations led to my ongoing interest in Bo Bardi’s work which resulted in bringing a retrospective of her drawings, models and writings to CCa in 1997. I wrote an article on Bo Bardi in the journal Aula and soon after, Berghahn Journals published my long essay: Culture Translated and Devoured.
