Two projects in one; the New Mexican Museum in San Francisco is both a four-story first-class cultural institution and a forty-eight story luxury condominium tower. Part of the Yerba Buena Gardens cultural complex it faces Jesse Square, the Jewish Museum and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The museum itself straddles the Historic Aronson building on its east side and the ultra modern Millennium towers above making for an extremely rich and unique set of constraints to drive the design intent. The museum will house the 14,000 piece collection, will act as the repository of Latino visual and performing culture and will be supported by educational and administrative facilities.
